Abstract

An application network consists of a number of application servers distributed throughout the Internet, connected and coordinated to provide services with low latency. Internet services have very dynamic demands that can be provisioned if new application servers are activated or migrated to regions where demand arises. To activate application servers anywhere in the Internet it is needed a programmable Internet Service infrastructure, for example a Grid. As well application networks should remain connected and coordinated, therefore application networks must be deployed coordinately. We propose a framework for application network deployment that provides basic building blocks for coordinated application network activation at appropriate locations in Grid programmable infrastructures.
